It’s been a busy couple of weeks for whisky news… here’s the best of what we’ve been reading about.
Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery launches an indulgent Whisky and Chocolate Tasting Tour
We took part in the preview tasting event a few weeks ago, but Dewars have now launched their Whisky and Chocolate Tasting Tour.
Visitors sample Aberfeldy 12 year old single malt whisky, the premium Dewar’s 12 year old blended Scotch and super-premium Dewar’s 18 year old blended Scotch, matched with chocolate discs from Vietnam, Guatemala, and The Democratic Republic of Congo.
Well worth a look.
Women reach the top at The Scotch Whisky Experience
As it celebrates 30 years of operation, Edinburgh’s five star visitor attraction, The Scotch Whisky Experience, is announcing three senior promotions.
A triumvirate of whisky women is now running the business as executive directors, with Susan Morrison appointed as CEO alongside two others who now join the board: Julie Trevisan Hunter becomes Marketing Director and Angela Dineen, Operations Director.
Lidl whiskies win big at Scotch Whisky Masters
Lidl have added to their award haul with Gold and Silver medals at the The Scotch Whisky Masters on 11th June.
The Abrachan Triple Oak Blended Malt, which sells for £17.49 won a Silver Medal in the Blended Malt – Standard category, and Ben Bracken Speyside Single Malt won gold in the Single Malt – Speyside; Standard.

Charlie MacLean works with the SMWS to celebrate anniversary
Whisky legend Charlie MacLean has personally selected a batch of 21 new single cask bottlings for The Scotch Malt Whisky Society as part of its 35th anniversary celebrations.
The whiskies, which range in age from 8 to 29 years old and feature tasting notes written by MacLean, will go on sale exclusively to the Society’s members around the world from July. As with all Society bottlings, each one is a limited edition having been bottled from single casks of whisky.
MacLean is also hosting a special tasting with whiskies from the range alongside snacks and a screening of ‘The Angel’s Share’ at the Dominion Cinema on July 3rd.
There is also a London event on July 4th.
