X FLASKS Hip Flasks — X marks the Spot!

The list of useful accessories available for the whisky / spirits drinker is relatively small, but a hip flask is right up at the top.

We own many flasks in the Braw Spirit household, ranging from the free gift we got when buying a bottle of Laphroaig at the airport through to a rather swanky slimline effort designed for a jacket pocket.

The chaps at X FLASKS in London were kind enough to send us one of their Original Collection flasks and we were happy to share our thoughts.

X FLASKS was launched in 2016 after founder Marcus Ganterer had a flask made as a gift for a friends wedding. The item was well received and gained enough attention that the business was born.

The Original Collection flasks are made from Stainless Steel and hold about 170ml of liquid, so plenty of space for a few drams.

They’re available in 3 colours — traditional Silver, a contemporary Rose Gold and the version we received, Gold.

X FLASKS Original — Flask and Funnel

Each flask comes packaged in sturdy ribbon-tied box with the company logo debossed on the lid.

Our standard box contained the flask and a mini funnel. There are also Gift Collections available, accommodating an extra whiskey miniature or flask pouch.

I’m a big fan of the Gold colour as it gives the flask a classic feel, like a vintage Dunhill lighter.

The X FLASKS logo is engraved on the front and the cap has a minimal ‘X’ placed on top.

Each flask looks as if it has been carved from a single piece of metal, with no visible seams apart from the collar join and a good weight when empty.

The smooth corners make it look more like pocket flask than a traditional hip flask, yet the curved shape is definitely designed to sit against the body.

The cap unscrews smoothly and there is plenty of thread to ensure no leaks.

Speaking of no leaks, X FLASKS offer a lifetime guarantee on each flask and also free replacement caps should you ever lose one.

We’ll certainly be using this flask and report back after it’s had a decent road test, but first impressions are excellent.

The Original flask is a well made, quality product and the guarantees around defects and replacement caps should give confidence that it’s been designed to last.

Definitely worth considering if you’re looking for a gift for the whisky fan in your life and I’m looking forward to seeing what other products appear in the X FLASKS range.

Thanks to X FLASKS for the product — you can see the range of flasks at, or follow them on Facebook or Twitter.
